Common Problems

CAUTION: DISABLE ALL MACHINE POWER AND OBSERVE LOCKOUT PROCEDURES PRIOR TO MAKING ANY ADJUSTMENTS TO THE MACHINE. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN SEVERE EMBARRASSMENT, INJURY OR DEATH.

If the motor will not run, first check the fuses.

To change motor rotation direction, swap two of wires coming out of the contactor before the soft start. This is much easier than changing the U1,V1,W1,U2,V2,W2 going to the motor leads.

Check the wiring vs the diagram in the Erdman schematics.

If the fuses are good, check the RUN/FAULT LED on the soft start

overload 1
temperature 2
phase reversal 3
phase loss / open load 4
phase imbalance 5

To check the impedance of the motor windings, these are expected values.
V1/2 (T2) W1/3 (T3) U2/4 (T5) V2/5 (T4) W2/6 (T6)
open circuit open circuit 0.8Ω open circuit open circuit U1/1 (T1)
open circuit open circuit @0.8Ω open circuit U1/1 (T1)
open circuit open circuit @0.8Ω U1/1 (T1)
open circuit open circuit U2/4 (T5)
open circuit V2/5 (T4)

Note that the 1,2,3,4,5,6 on the motor leads inside the motor box should NOT match the T1,T2,T3,T4,T5,T6 in the Erdman schematics.
